Hello, I am Susanna Sweeney, M.B.A.C.P.
I am a body centred, sensorimotor psychotherapist trained in both trauma and developmental work. I have been helping people change their lives for over 25 years.
Usually, psychotherapy is a long term commitment. Many people are reluctant to enter into such a contract considering the cost involved. When you attend psychotherapy weekly over a two year period as you would for most deeper personal issues, this can really add up.
Over the years, I have added tools to my toolbox that allow me to hold a space where you can free yourself from longstanding issues and change your life much faster.
Long term psychotherapy suits some people who need a high level of support or are curious about working on deeper relational issues in this way. On the other hand, long term psychotherapy also has some downsides. I have already named the financial side.
Furthermore, you can get into a dependency scenario when you attend psychotherapy weekly over a longer period. It can become a habit in itself and in that can lose the focus on actually changing your life. And losing that focus to my mind is losing much of the point of what therapy is supposed to be for.
I have been doing a lot of thinking on all of this over the years and as a result I have come to believe that most people can benefit greatly from ultra short term therapy using slightly altered states such as in hypnosis, as well as psycho-sensory methods that help your brain to reprogram itself in a short space of time. I now incorporate these methods in my psychotherapeutic approach.
This combination offers you- the prospective client, the best holding possible, combined with some fast moving methods that propel you to the next stage of personal development.
