Depression Therapy

Depression therapy is mostly seen as a combination of taking antidepressant drugs and attending talk based psychotherapy or counselling.

But did you know that antidepressant drugs only work as they should for a mere ten percent of those that are prescribed them? In the video below watch Dr. Irving Kirsch discuss his findings in regard to antidepressants based on fifteen years of research.

The other consideration with drugs is that they usually come with lots of potential side effects. They also cost a lot. And, taking drugs- even if they did work, will never allow you to be truly free because there's a dependency set up.

Talk therapy then can help in certain ways. Your counsellor will hopefully be someone that you feel you can confide in. Such a trusting relationship can be very helpful. Having appointments to attend every week can help develop a  routine. And each time you talk, you might feel some relief having shared your worries and problems.

Very often I find that what is really underlying that depression with clients are suppressed emotions, very often anger and rage that link back to very early traumatic events or emotional injuries.

If you have an excellent therapist, you may touch into those during therapy and may even start to experience some sense of relief as you start to feel your anger. Beyond that, talk therapy will do little to help you deal with or remove the symptoms of depression. Often, clients report getting stuck at a certain stage when things don't improve any further.

What's the alternative?

The alternative is in working in a different way. Using short term psychotherapy combined with psycho-sensory methods and hypnosis, you can dismantle childhood programming very effectively in a short space of time and release deeply held negative emotions such as anger and fear.

Once these are released, I start building resilience with clients and accompany them until they are able to change their lives and integrate this new, depression free identity. This work achieves rapid changes that are far reaching and lasting.
